Welcome to our newly formed Osoyoos & Oliver Sculptors Group!
This artist’s group is for all those interested in 3D media throughout the South Okanagan and Similkameen regions who are looking for a place to gather and grow.
The focus will be on support and encouragement, a group where newer artists can ask questions and learn from those with more knowledge and experience. Whether you’ve never touched a sculpture in your life or you’re a certified expert, we would love to see you and help with your projects.
Our second focus will be on coordinating together for help with larger projects that need bigger studio space, such as live modelling sessions.
We want to pave the way for more artists to have the resources to create and thrive!
Whether your medium is clay, stone, fabric, found objects, or anything in between, you are welcome to bring your creativity and ideas!
To get involved you can contact founder Tonia for more info (email: sculptors@mail.com or dm @toniarelkovart on Instagram).
Our first meeting was Sunday October 4th, 11am at the Art Centre 8713 Main Street (boardroom upstairs with access off 89th Street). Schedules permitting, we will meet on the first Sunday of the month or as frequent as members request.
The group's founder is Tonia Relkov, who has recently moved to Osoyoos. Tonia has been a hobby artist for about twelve years and have recently settled on sculpting as her main focus. She originally studied drawing and painting at the Academy of Realist Art Toronto where she worked with live models and fantastic teachers, giving her a love of representational art and in particular the beauty of working in charcoals and pencils.
After moving to Halifax, Tonia studied sculpture and ceramics, learning more techniques and really getting excited about the possibilities of clay.
