O.D.A.C. Memorial Tribute to Dorothy Fraser
The Osoyoos and District Arts Council instituted an annual award to promote excellence and achievement in piano as a memorial tribute to Mrs. Dorothy Fraser. The award consists of a perpetual plaque, a keeper trophy and a scholarship of $100. To be eligible for this award, a student must live or take lessons from a teacher in the Osoyoos area and must submit marks from an authorized school of music for any practical examination session during the current year. The award will be presented to the student that submits the documentation to prove that he or she has achieved the highest mark in their exam.
Mrs. Fraser taught piano in Osoyoos for 49 years before her death in May 1995. During that time, she established the Western Board of Music exam centre in Osoyoos, was active in the Osoyoos and District Arts Council and the South Okanagan Concert Society and was well known as a constant supporter and promoter of the arts. Janet Marcotte is one of her former students. She continues to have the Conservatory Canada exam center in Osoyoos and is also the president of the South Okanagan Concert Society.

About Music in the Park
Osoyoos Music in the Park is dedicated to bringing various styles of music and entertainment to Locals and Visitors at our lakeside venue by the main beach. We are volunteer driven with funding by the Town of Osoyoos - BC Resort Municipality Initiative.
Osoyoos Music in the Park began as an idea amongst friends in 2015 and has grown exponentially over the course of five seasons. The ten concerts are free and family oriented. The production is totally volunteer driven and Janis St Louis has hung in since the beginning and is the driving force. Roland Berg, a talented musician in his own right, has volunteered for three seasons providing technical support. Debbie Dundass, came on board two seasons ago and does all the promotional work. Together these “Three Amigos” are bringing life to the downtown core during the summer months with the motto:
If it’s Friday night you know where you need to be.
