About the Artists on Main Osoyoos

Artists on Main Osoyoos has been contributing to the Osoyoos Arts Community since 1950. From 10 original members, our membership has grown to 56 in 2022. Members meet at the Cactus Centre, 6418 Chickadee Court, Osoyoos for monthly demos or workshops. A studio is also available at Studio 89, on the second floor of 89th Avenue and Main Street (Hwy #3) above The Art Gallery Osoyoos. New and experienced artists are welcome to drop in and meet the members. We are Member Group under the Osoyoos & District Arts Council (O.D.A.C.). 

We are…  
a group of artists of all skill levels from beginners to professional artist.  Involvement in the club, through participation and volunteering, further enhances skill development and creativity.  Opportunities to display art are offered through various businesses, wineries, and a variety of local locations. Exhibitions often take place a The Art Galley Osoyoos. 

Our Mission 

The purpose of the Artists on Main is to: 

  • promote the development, understanding, and enjoyment of the visual arts in the community. 
  • encourage our member to strive the greater perfection in their work, and 
  •  promote the exchange of cultural, educational, and artistic ideas. 


New members are always welcome. Our members are encouraged to become involved in club activities.  Volunteer help with art shows and club committees is always appreciated.

Annual membership is $25.00.  Membership dues cover the club’s ongoing expenses and insurance costs.  Upon receipt of dues your email address will be added to our club fan-out to receive a monthly newsletter and other information.  An application form can be downloaded at our website.

About Janet Marcotte Music

 Janet Marcotte is a former student of Dorothy Fraser and continues to have the Conservatory Canada exam Center in Osoyoos and is also the president of the South Okanagan Concert Society.

O.D.A.C. Memorial Tribute to Dorothy Fraser 

The Osoyoos and District Arts Council instituted an annual award to promote excellence and achievement in piano as a memorial tribute to Mrs. Dorothy Fraser. The award consists of a perpetual plaque, a keeper trophy and a scholarship of $100. To be eligible for this award, a student must live or take lessons from a teacher in the Osoyoos area and must submit marks from an authorized school of music for any practical examination session during the current year. The award will be presented to the student that submits the documentation to prove that he or she has achieved the highest mark in their exam.  

Mrs. Fraser taught piano in Osoyoos for 49 years before her death in May 1995. During that time, she established the Western Board of Music exam centre in Osoyoos, was active in the Osoyoos and District Arts Council and the South Okanagan Concert Society and was well known as a constant supporter and promoter of the arts. Janet Marcotte is one of her former students. She continues to have the Conservatory Canada exam center in Osoyoos and is also the president of the South Okanagan Concert Society.  

The 2018 Dorothy Fraser Memorial Scholarship Award

Sixteen year old Kaelyn Burton is the 2018 recipient. She achieved the mark of 85% on her Grade Five Conservatory Canada piano exam during the year of 2018. 

The 2016 Dorothy Fraser Memorial Scholarship Award

Amy Lucich is  the 2016 recipient. She achieved the mark of 91% on her Grade One Conservatory Canada piano exam during the year of 2016.

About Music in the Park

Osoyoos Music in the Park (MIP) produces outdoor live music concerts at Gyro Park on Friday evenings in the summer months from 6:30 - 8:30pm.  The concerts are free and family oriented, offering a variety of music genres. 

Osoyoos Music in the Park (MIP) is a local volunteer group that plans and produces the concerts, ongoing since 2015.  

Funding for the program is from the provincial Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) administered by the Town of Osoyoos.
